Le 5 avril 2018, Groupe de droit des consommateurs a intenté une action collective contre Johnson & Johnson concernant la commercialisation et la vente des produits Aveeno Active Naturals.

Cette action collective implique la publicité trompeuse, fallacieuse, mensongère et injuste des produits Aveeno Active Naturels comme étant des produits complètement naturels. Cependant, les produits Aveeno Active Naturels sont loin d’être naturels. Les produits présentent des ingrédients synthétiques et artificiels comme l’hydroxyde de sodium, glycérine et le phénoxyéthanol.

Les commercialisations des produits Aveeno Active Naturels contiennent un libellé important sur les produits eux-mêmes, sur leur site-web et dans leurs publicités de média social. Sur leur site-web, Aveeno a commercialisé les produits Aveeno Active Naturels comme étant des produits naturels « qui procurent de vrais bienfaits pour la peau et les cheveux » dont les « chercheurs scientifiques adoptent les normes les plus élevées en matière de la sélection d’ingrédients, de formulation et de fabrication, et suivent des procédures visant à maintenir le pouvoir et la pureté des ingrédients naturels ». Ce type de libellé mènerait un consommateur raisonnable à croire que les produits Aveeno Active Naturels contenaient seulement des ingrédients naturels.

Conséquemment, les consommateurs ont payé un prix élevé pour les produits Aveeno Active Naturels en comparaison avec des produits de soins corporels et capillaires similaires n’ayant pas le mot « Naturel » sur leurs étiquettes, leur causant ainsi des dommages économiques.

Une action collective qui a été déposée aux États-Unis contre Johnson & Johnson concernant les produits Aveeno Active Naturels a abouti à un règlement de 6,75 millions de dollars, y compris les remboursements de produits. J & J a également accepté de suspendre la vente des produits Aveeno Active Naturels.
